Rank mappings
To change the rank mappings, select the Rank tab in the Project settings window.
Rank in JIRA is the position of an issue relative to other issues on an agile board. Rank is stored in a custom field. By default, JIRA has one rank field that all boards are based on. You can create additional rank fields and have boards with an alternative order of issues.
Although the Rank field has particular content (numbers or text strings, depending on the JIRA Agile version), these values are meaningless to the user and cannot be modified directly. Instead, the Rank mapping in Ceptah Bridge makes sure that the issue order enforced by a Rank field is the same as the order defined by the mapped MS Project field.
An explanation of the Rank Mappings tab is provided below.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Ranks table | Contains rank mappings |
JIRA (Rank) | The name of the mapped Rank field |
Dir | The synchronisation direction - always from MS Project to JIRA |
Microsoft Project | The mapped Microsoft Project field and ordering method |
X (cross) | Deletes the mapping |
Details pane | Shows the details of the selected mapping |
Rank Field |
Select the JIRA Rank custom field to be mapped. |
Order By |
Select the MS Project field to order (rank) issues by. |
Ascending |
Tick the option to sort the issues in ascending order. The issues linked to the tasks with a smaller field value will be ranked before the ones that are associated with the tasks with a greater field value. |
Descending |
Tick the option to sort the issues in descending order. The issues linked to the tasks with a greater field value will be ranked before the ones that are associated with the tasks with a smaller field value. |
Using list |
Tick the option to define the ranking order manually using a list of possible field values. Select a value in the "Available values" list and press "<< Add" to add the value to the list of ordered values. Select a value in the ordered list and press "Remove >>" to exclude it. To add a value that is not in the mapped column, enter it manually in the "Enter manually" box and press the adjacent "<< Add" button. To re-order values, select them and click "Move Up" or "Move Down". |
